Baseball Game Preview: Goddard Rockets vs. Lovington Wildcats

For the second straight game, Goddard will face off against Lovington. The Rockets will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. Goddard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Goddard made easy work of Lovington and carried off a 19-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Cameron Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Goddard is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brady Duer was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Fuentes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Goddard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lovington's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Goddard, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
