Cardinal Newman dropped their record down to 26-4-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles by a score of 1-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Crusaders were not able to get on the board.

Max Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cardinal Newman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Demarzo, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
