Softball Game Preview: Gray-New Gloucester Patriots vs. Telstar Rebels

The Gray-New Gloucester Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the Telstar Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Gray-New Gloucester is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Lake Region hit Gray-New Gloucester with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots lost 11-1 to the Lakers.

Telstar never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sacopee Valley on Wednesday. They blew past the Hawks 12-4. Considering the Rebels have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma McPherson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. McPherson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cadie Campbell was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Taejyah Lego was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Telstar has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Gray-New Gloucester, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
