Basketball Recap: Doherty Victorious

Doherty had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 35-29 win over the Rock Canyon Jaguars on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.

Doherty can attribute much of their success to Lalannie Donald, who posted 13 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Smith, who scored four points.

Doherty's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Rock Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

Doherty is taking a road trip to take on Valor Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valor Christian will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something Doherty surely won't give up without a fight. Rock Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
