Basketball Recap: Western Christian Takes a Loss

Western Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Pacifica Christian Tritons, falling 76-32. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 911th, while the Tritons are ranked 62nd).

Despite the loss, Western Christian still got an impressive performance from Brian Wallace, who went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points. That was a full 59.4% of Western Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

EJ Spillman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pacifica Christian, going 8 of 14 on his way to 22 points and seven assists. Spillman continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hudson Reynolds, who earned eight points and three steals.

Western Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Pacifica Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing San Gabriel Academy the next time they take the court. Pacifica Christian will head out to face San Gabriel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Western Christian will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
