Softball Game Preview: South Eugene Axe vs. Sheldon Irish

South Eugene is 0-10 against Sheldon since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Axe will face off against the Irish at 4:30 p.m. South Eugene has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Eugene came up short against Grants Pass on Saturday, falling 14-1.

Meanwhile, Sheldon posted their closest win since April 4th last Saturday. They skirted past Grants Pass 7-6.

Sheldon let Natalia Shoemaker and Savannah Mckibben run wild. Shoemaker went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles, while Mckibben went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Shoemaker has posted since back in April. Braelyn Stone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

South Eugene's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Sheldon, their record is now 10-12.

South Eugene suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Sheldon in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Axe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
