Basketball Game Preview: Waukomis Chiefs vs. Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs

Waukomis is 0-9 against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale since January of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Waukomis Chiefs will venture away from home to challenge the Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Waukomis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Pioneer-Pleasant Vale likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Waukomis came up short against Garber and fell 70-58. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Chiefs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 235th).

Meanwhile, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Taloga 44-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Mustangs have posted since December 2, 2024.

Pioneer-Pleasant Vale's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9. As for Waukomis, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Waukomis came up short against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 54-50. Can Waukomis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
