Preview: Eastern Guilford Wildcats vs. Williams Bulldogs
The Eastern Guilford Wildcats will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Williams Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Eastern Guilford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 606th, while Williams is ranked 264th).
Last Tuesday, Eastern Guilford ended up a good deal behind Northeast Guilford and lost 61-44.
Meanwhile, Williams had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over Cummings.
Williams' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Sam Rhodes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds, and Milton Turner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Rhodes continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaeden Smith, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Eastern Guilford bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Williams, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Eastern Guilford couldn't quite finish off Williams in their previous matchup back in November and fell 56-53. Can Eastern Guilford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
