Basketball Recap: Northeast Raiders vs. Washington County Golden Hawks
Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 60-37 loss courtesy of the Washington County Golden Hawks. The Raiders lost against the Golden Hawks in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 64-62 score last time.
Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Keundre Jackson, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Washington County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaden Collins, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Collins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brashod Heggs, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with six boards and five steals.
Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Washington County, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8.
Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-50 loss against McNair on the 4th. As for Washington County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 83-81 win against Warren County on the 7th.
