Football Game Preview: Rivercrest Colts vs. Harrisburg Hornets

Rivercrest is a perfect 3-0 against Harrisburg since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Colts will be playing at home against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. The contest will give Rivercrest their first taste of in-conference action this season.

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when Rivercrest took on Forrest City on Friday. The Colts fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 58-56. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (48), the Colts still had to take the loss.

Rivercrest might have lost, but man, Jayden Young was a machine: he rushed for 163 yards and five TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Lexx Latham, who rushed for 136 yards and one score.

Rivercrest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Young.

Meanwhile, Harrisburg was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a hard 34-18 fall against Trumann.

Rivercrest will have to contain Grayson Harkey as he made an impact in Harrisburg's last game. He picked up 69 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 51 yards on only six carries. Jayvin Thompson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Harrisburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rivercrest, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Rivercrest's way against Harrisburg in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Rivercrest made off with a 40-14 win. In that game, the Colts amassed a halftime lead of 40-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
