Baseball Recap: Homewood-Flossmoor Comes Up Short

After soaring to 13 runs the game before, Homewood-Flossmoor was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of the Lincoln-Way East Griffins by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered against the Griffins since June 1, 2021.

Homewood-Flossmoor is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Lincoln-Way East, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

Homewood-Flossmoor and Lincoln-Way East should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Vikings will take on Marian Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (91 vs. 245). Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East (ranked second) will meet Oswego East (ranked 164th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
