Softball Game Preview: Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs vs. Thomas A. Edison Owls

The Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Thomas A. Edison Owls at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Maritime Academy Charter made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Penn Treaty, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Maritime Academy Charter was the clear victor by a 23-1 margin over Penn Treaty on Tuesday. With that win, the Seadogs brought their scoring average up to 8.8 runs per game.

Jordyn Kile was a standout: she got on base in three of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaycie Clark, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Maritime Academy Charter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Thomas A. Edison came up short against String Theory on Thursday, falling 19-12.

Maritime Academy Charter's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Thomas A. Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Maritime Academy Charter skirted past Thomas A. Edison 20-19 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Maritime Academy Charter repeat their success, or does Thomas A. Edison has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
