Even though the Cuthbertson Cavaliers scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the Marvin Ridge Mavericks still came out on top. Marvin Ridge took their match against Cuthbertson 63-55. Given Marvin Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Cuthbertson is ranked 418th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brady Dunn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josh Clark, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Marvin Ridge and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Cuthbertson, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marvin Ridge will square off against Palisades at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Palisades will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Cuthbertson, they will head out on the road to face off against Providence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
