Recap: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. Carvers Bay Bears
The Lamar Silver Foxes had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged Carvers Bay out 23-20. The victory was familiar territory for Lamar who now have eight in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lamar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Travion Mcphail, who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Mcphail hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zori Pierce, who rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Lamar's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Carvers Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Lamar will look to defend their home field on Friday against Johnsonville at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Johnsonville is ranked 121st, while Lamar is ranked 111th). Carvers Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
