Soccer Game Preview: McKinney vs. McKinney Boyd

The McKinney Lions will venture away from home to face off against the McKinney Boyd Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

McKinney is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Prosper on Friday. They lost 3-0 to the Eagles.

Meanwhile, McKinney Boyd hasn't lost a match since January 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They put the hurt on Plano with a sharp 4-1 win. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McKinney Boyd is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those six contests. As for McKinney, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 1-1-3 and their overall record down to 1-3-4.

McKinney came up short against McKinney Boyd when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 3-1. Can McKinney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
