Volleyball Recap: Jefferson City Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Jefferson City was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Southern Boone on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jays fell just short of the Rock Bridge Bruins by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Jays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Jefferson City actually scored more points across those five sets (102-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Jefferson City still got an impressive performance from Ella Showers, who had 22 digs and four aces. Showers has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played.

Jefferson City's loss ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9-1. As for Rock Bridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-17.

Jefferson City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Fayetteville on the 10th. As for Rock Bridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Hannibal on the 9th.
