Volleyball Recap: Jefferson City's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After flying high against Southern Boone on Tuesday, Jefferson City came back down to earth. The Jays fell just short of the Rock Bridge Bruins by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Jays' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Jefferson City actually scored more points across those five sets (102-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Showers had 22 digs and four aces. Showers has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played.

Jefferson City's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 15-9-1. As for Rock Bridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-17.

Coming up, Jefferson City will be taking part in a tournament against Fayetteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rock Bridge, they will head out to face off against Hannibal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
