Baseball Game Preview: Crawford Colts vs. Castle Park Trojans

Crawford is 0-4 against Castle Park since February of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Colts will welcome the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Crawford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Crawford came up short against Lincoln and fell 10-5. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Abbel Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hector Fuentes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Castle Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Southwest SD. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Aldo Leon and Lawrence Nellis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Leon got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one triple, while Nellis went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Abel Aguayo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Castle Park's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Crawford, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.

Castle Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Crawford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Castle Park, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Crawford's hitters?

Crawford couldn't quite finish off Castle Park in their previous matchup back in March and fell 9-7. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
