Preview: John Marshall Justices vs. Freeman Mavericks
After three games on the road, John Marshall is heading back home. The John Marshall Justices and the Freeman Mavericks will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, John Marshall faced Alexandria City in a battle between two of the state's top teams. John Marshall walked away with a 73-61 victory over Alexandria City. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Damon Thompson Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 39 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Latrell Allmond, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds.
Freeman posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Glen Allen and snuck past 53-51. The win made it back-to-back wins for Freeman.
John Marshall's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Freeman, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Everything came up roses for John Marshall against Freeman when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 69-42 victory. With John Marshall ahead 44-21 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
