Baseball Recap: Greenwood Takes a Loss

If Greenwood was feeling good fresh off their 14-2 takedown of North Augusta last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Greenwood took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mauldin Mavericks on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Tuesday.

Landen Still was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Greenwood has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Mauldin's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Greenwood will challenge rival Greenville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mauldin is set to face off against their familiar foe Easley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
