Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Lincoln County's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Lincoln County hadn't done well against Garrard County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Patriots walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Golden Lions. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Golden Lions last Tuesday, they had to take a 4-2 defeat.

Brennin Hazlett and Tucker Foster were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Hazlett didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Foster pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Hazlett scored a run while going 1-for-5, while Foster went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Foster has become a key player for Lincoln County: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Hart, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Grady Foster was another, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Lincoln County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Garrard County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Lincoln County will venture away from home to take on Jackson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garrard County, they will challenge Woodford County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Golden Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
