Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Lincoln High Links

The Lincoln Northeast Rockets will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln High Links at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lincoln Northeast is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Burke for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-37 win. With the Rockets ahead 42-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Lincoln Northeast found their leader in freshman Brynna Renard, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Renard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayla Merrill, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Lincoln Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lincoln High ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 48-41 victory over Norfolk. Winning may never get old, but the Links sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Lincoln Northeast's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Lincoln High, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Lincoln Northeast strolled past Lincoln High in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 54-36. Does Lincoln Northeast have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lincoln High turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
