Recap: Caliche Buffaloes vs. Potter-Dix Coyotes
The Caliche Buffaloes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Potter-Dix with a sharp 56-35 win. Given Caliche's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 74th in Colorado, while Potter-Dix is ranked 220th in Nebraska), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ava Hernandez was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. Ryann Svoboda was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Williamson, who scored 11 points along with five assists. The match was Williamson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Crystal Dhooge, who scored eight points.
Caliche pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Potter-Dix, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caliche will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Holyoke is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Potter-Dix won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Banner County on December 15th. Hopefully Banner County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday.
