Baseball Recap: Palmyra Cougars vs. Wyoming Valley West Spartans

Palmyra had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Wyoming Valley West Spartans on Saturday as the Palmyra Cougars made off with a 9-1 victory.

Jonathan Strohecker looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Palmyra let Nate Osteen and Julian Meley run wild. Osteen scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Meley scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave Osteen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Dorta, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Palmyra will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Elizabethtown at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wyoming Valley West, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-11 win against Calvary Day School on the 16th.
