Soccer Game Preview: Southaven vs. Lewisburg

The Southaven Chargers will square off against the Lewisburg Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Southaven fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Hernando on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 3-1 to the Tigers. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Lewisburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Oxford who was credited with the win. Oxford got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Lewisburg's four.

Braxton Sharp and Ben Lageman scored all three of Lewisburg's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Southaven's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Lewisburg, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 16-2.
