Soccer Game Preview: Service vs. West Anchorage

The Service Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the West Anchorage Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Service sitting on eight straight victories and West Anchorage on seven.

Service is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Eagle River, who was ranked 21st at the time (Service was ranked sixth). The Cougars never let Wolves get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Saturday. Give Service's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Anchorage). Everything went their way against Bartlett on Saturday as they made off with a 12-0 victory. It was an even better day for Musa Marrah as he scored three goals for his team.

Service pushed their record up to 10-4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matchups. As for West Anchorage, their win bumped their record up to 12-2-1.

Service beat West Anchorage 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
