Softball Recap: Pontiac Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Pontiac dropped their record down to 12-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Kewanee Boilermakers by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since April 30, 2024.

Elena Krause stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Hinz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Kewanee, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the match before.

On Kewanee's side, they let Kalleigh Gale and Rylee Blades run wild. Gale went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Blades went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Addy Yepsen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Pontiac and Kewanee will both be playing Beecher the next time they take the field. The Boilermakers will head out to face the Bobcats at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Indians will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
