Volleyball Recap: Mead Comes Up Short

Mead lost against Niwot back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mavericks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

While Mead ultimately came up short, they really made Niwot work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17.

Elena Gomez paced Mead's offense, picking up nine kills. Gomez got some help from Cailin Hall and her 22 assists. Finally, Gomez was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Mead has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Niwot, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Mead has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Skyline on the 9th. As for Niwot, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Frederick on the 9th.
