Elmira waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Creswell Bulldogs. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-1 victory on Friday.

Audrey Varozza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Hansen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Shiloh Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Elmira hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Elmira pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Creswell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Elmira will take on Amity at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Creswell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
