Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alexandra Vandiver and Bailey Harris Lead St. Mary's to Victory

St. Mary hadn't done well against McDonogh recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The St. Mary's Saints strolled past the McDonogh Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. This was payback for the Saints, who suffered a 79-38 loss the last time these two teams met.

St. Mary's was led to victory by Bailey Harris and Alexandra Vandiver. Harris dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Vandiver almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The game was Harris' tenth in a row with at least ten points.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for McDonogh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

St. Mary's will take on The Academy of the Holy Cross in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (St. Mary's has won six straight at home dating back to last season, while The Academy of the Holy Cross won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for McDonogh, they will take on North Point in a tournament on Saturday.
