Champion hadn't beaten LaBrae on the road since May 9, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Golden Flashes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings, sneaking past 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Golden Flashes: when they faced off against the Vikings back in March, they had to take a 10-6 defeat.

Champion saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Chapin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Champion has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for LaBrae, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5.

Coincidentally, Champion and LaBrae will both be playing Girard the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Golden Flashes will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
