Softball Recap: Graham Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Graham had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Virginia High Bearcats 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-5 back in April.

Abby Houchins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bella Kaklis, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Stevie Sparks, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Graham's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Virginia High, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Graham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Virginia High, they will welcome Lebanon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
