Football Game Preview: Maypearl Panthers vs. Mexia Black Cats

The Maypearl Panthers will take on the Mexia Black Cats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Maypearl is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They were outmatched by Grandview and fell 51-23. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Zebras are ranked 310th).

Meanwhile, Mexia had to suffer through a 59-25 loss at the hands of Whitney.

Maypearl's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mexia, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Maypearl barely slipped by Mexia in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 18-17. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Black Cats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
