The home team had won the previous five meetings between Monterey and Odessa, and Monterey kept the tradition alive. The Plainsmen walked away with a 3-1 win over the Bronchos on Monday. The Plainsmen haven't had any issues with the Bronchos recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Monterey got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 15-25, 25-16, 32-30.

Emerson Satterfield paced Monterey's offense, picking up 15 kills. Satterfield got some help from Athaliah Rodriguez and her 17 assists. Finally, Ari Johnson kept Monterey's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Monterey's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Odessa, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Monterey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Midland Legacy on the 12th. As for Odessa, they will square off against Wylie East at 10:15 a.m. on the 21st.
