Basketball Recap: Lakeside Takes a Loss

Lakeside lost against Dunwoody back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lakeside Vikings fell 52-40 to the Dunwoody Wildcats.

When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, don't look at Kareem Hopkins. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Cameron Funna was another key player, putting up two points and four steals.

Dunwoody got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matt Corgile out in front who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brennan Smith, who posted 13 points.

Lakeside's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Dunwoody, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-16.

Lakeside has already played their next match, a 55-45 defeat against Cristo Rey Atlanta on the 6th. As for Dunwoody, they will challenge Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Decatur's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
