Softball Recap: Jennings Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jennings had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the A.J. Ellender Patriots a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

A.J. Ellender's batters probably weren't too happy with Jenna Morvant, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up a single walk). Morvant has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kylie Price was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeleine Person, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Jennings hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 10-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory made it two in a row for Jennings and bumps their season record up to 14-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for A.J. Ellender, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-14.

As of now, neither Jennings nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
