Basketball Recap: Horizon Takes a Loss

Horizon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Hanks Knights 69-12. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scorpions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-16 back in December of 2024.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Nima Ruiz, Priscilla Rodriguez, and Aaliyah Ochoa posted three points each. Azul Rivera held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Hanks' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anette Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 boards. Andrea Rios was another key player, going 7 for 13 en route to 15 points.

Horizon's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Hanks, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Horizon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-22 loss against Del Valle on the 21st. Hanks has also already played their next contest, a 76-20 victory against Parkland on the 21st.
