Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders vs. St. Bernard Vikings
The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders pushed their score all the way to 72 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 85-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Bernard. Mater Dei Catholic has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mater Dei Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josiah Jefferson, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Lincoln Grogan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Mater Dei Catholic bumped their record down to 10-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Bernard, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will take on San Ysidro at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Ysidro is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Bernard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
