Recap: McMichael Phoenix vs. Rockingham County Cougars
The McMichael Phoenix won against the Rockingham County Cougars on Monday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. McMichael secured a 66-62 W over Rockingham County. The victory was all the more spectacular given McMichael's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Rockingham County is ranked 178th).
Isaiah Belcher was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of McMichael's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Dunn, who scored 13 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for McMichael and bumps their season record up to 2-4. As for Rockingham County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McMichael will square off against West Stokes at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rockingham County, they will head out on the road to face off against Morehead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Morehead has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 299 points over their last four games.
