Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Ramona

Ramona barely beat Jurupa Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Jaguars on Wednesday. Considering the Rams have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Richard Laskey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adam Hurtado, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Anthony Avina, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The win (which was Ramona's fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Jurupa Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
