Football Recap: Lumberton Does not Make It Easy on Gray's Creek's Passing Game

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cape Fear, Lumberton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Gray's Creek Bears with points to spare, taking the game 21-7. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 28-24 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Lumberton's defense made their presence known, laying out K.J. Jackson four times. Christian Fulmore refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Lumberton got some further help from Fulmore: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made 13 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory got Lumberton back to even at 3-3. As for Gray's Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Lumberton and Gray's Creek could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Pirates will square off against Terry Sanford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (276 vs. 62). Meanwhile, Gray's Creek (ranked 230th) will meet Cape Fear (ranked 98th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
