Basketball Recap: Carrizozo Takes a Loss

Carrizozo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 56-15 loss at the hands of the Mountainair Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 71-7 loss last Wednesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountainair to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabriella Knoten, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Lopez, who posted 13 points and seven boards.

Carrizozo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Mountainair, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-18.

Carrizozo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountainair, they will challenge Alamo Navajo at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Mountainair's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Alamo Navajo has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
