Basketball Recap: Aidan Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sutton over Cross County

Sutton lost against Cross County back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sutton Mustangs fell to the Cross County Cougars 47-43.

Sutton's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Jones, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Payton Reed, who earned 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sawyer Anderson, who had 12 points along with five assists and five boards. Langdon Arbuck was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Sutton's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 19-6. As for Cross County, the victory was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-2.

Sutton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-50 defeat against Cedar Catholic on the 4th. As for Cross County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-51 win against Kimball on the 1st.
