The Otter Valley Otters will square off against the Mount Anthony Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Otter Valley and Windsor meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Otters blew past the Yellowjackets 15-2. With that win, the Otters brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Nolan Quenneville and Jackson Howe made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Quenneville pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Howe tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Quenneville went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Howe went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those hits were Quenneville's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Tripp, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Tripp is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Lucas Whitney was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Otter Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mount Anthony strolled into their game on Saturday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Rutland as they made off with a 21-4 victory.
Vance Kobelia was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carson Andrick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and one double.
The win got Otter Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Mount Anthony, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Otter Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Mount Anthony struggles in that department as they've averaged .516. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
