Softball Recap: Katella Wins Going Away Against Santiago

Katella barely beat Santiago the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 10-3 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.

Dani Neville made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Nataly Rodarte was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Garcia, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Katella's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Santiago, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.

Coming up, Katella will welcome Laguna Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Hawks a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck. As for Santiago, they are taking a road trip to face off against Savanna at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.94 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
