Football Recap: Etiwanda Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from CASSANDRA VAZQUEZ and ELLIE FITZPATRICK

The Etiwanda Eagles came up short against the Mater Dei Monarchs on Tuesday, falling 27-7. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Etiwanda's loss came despite strong showings from ELLIE FITZPATRICK and CASSANDRA VAZQUEZ. FITZPATRICK rushed for 55 yards and one TD, while VAZQUEZ threw for 153 yards on 13 of 27 attempts. FITZPATRICK also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, picking up a sack and making two total tackles.

Etiwanda's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mater Dei, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Etiwanda will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on San Dimas at 7:00 p.m. on September 2. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 12.6, the Saints 11.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Mater Dei, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 26-14 defeat against Esperanza on the 21st.
