Basketball Game Preview: Southeastern Panthers vs. Unioto Shermans

Southeastern hasn't had much luck against Unioto recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Southeastern Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Unioto Shermans at 7:15 p.m.

Southeastern is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They lost 47-27 to Huntington. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 579th, while the Huntsmen are ranked 279th).

Meanwhile, Unioto came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Redstreaks to the tune of 59-21. The Shermans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 28 points or more this season.

Unioto is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Southeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Southeastern took a serious blow against Unioto when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 79-17. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Unioto's Milee Smith, who went 11 for 16 on her way to 26 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
