Basketball Game Preview: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Papillion-LaVista South Titans

The Bellevue West Thunderbirds will venture away from home to challenge the Papillion-LaVista South Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bellevue West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Bellevue West faced off against Omaha Central on Friday. Bellevue West fell 56-48 to Omaha Central.

Despite their loss, Bellevue West saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Stevie Harley, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. Harley has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Yirah Sears, who posted ten points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Bellevue West was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Central only posted four assists.

Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista South suffered their closest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Westview by a score of 60-57. The Titans' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Bellevue West's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-6. As for Papillion-LaVista South, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Bellevue West beat Papillion-LaVista South 48-39 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Bellevue West repeat their success, or does Papillion-LaVista South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
