Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Heritage Christian Academy lost against Mount Calvary Christian Academy last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Heritage Christian Academy Patriots lost to the Mount Calvary Christian Academy Warriors at home by a 50-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Warriors are ranked 212th).

Despite the loss, Heritage Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Cheyenne Anderson, who posted 21 points. Anderson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Tabitha Greene was another key player, putting up eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Calvary Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Rice, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 33 rebounds. Rice is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 44 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Riley Tuten, who put up 15 points and six steals.

Heritage Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Mount Calvary Christian Academy, their record now sits at 12-4.

Heritage Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Terra Ceia Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lakin Van Essendelft and Anderson. As for Mount Calvary Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-34 victory against Community Christian on the 9th.
