Softball Recap: Holgate Triumphs

Holgate barely beat Stryker the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 11-0 on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Graysen Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Holgate got a massive performance out of Lyndee Palte, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those runs marked the first that Palte has scored this season. Hannah East was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Holgate's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Stryker, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Holgate will challenge Liberty Center at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stryker, they will take on Hicksville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Aces have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
